The Latitude D610 uses an Intel Pentium M processor, and the highest speed Pentium M Processor that is officially supported by the D610 published specifications is the Pentium M Processor 770 (2.13GHz)
I know of reports of the Pentium M Processor 780 (2.26Ghz) being used, but I have not personally verified these.
As of my last check with Dell directly, the 770 was the highest processor officially supported. An unsupported processor means no real assistance from Dell if you're having problems.
To remove the processor from a Dell Latitude E4310 laptop, first ensure the device is powered off and unplugged. Remove the battery and unscrew the back cover to access the internal components. Locate the CPU, detach the cooling system (heat sink and fan), and carefully lift the lever on the CPU socket to release the processor. Remember to handle the CPU and internal components with care to avoid damage.

It's actually a function of the CPU cooling fan. If you call Dell, they can send you a quieter model CPU fan.

A Dell Studio XPS tends to have better specifications hardware wise, meaning that it has better components such as CPU, RAM, and hard drive.
