http://www.crucial.com/ The website above has a way to find out what RAM your laptop needs. According to the site an Acer 3053WXCi needs DDR PC4200 or DDR PC5300
Personally I do not like ACER products much...
This Acer Aspire One netbook has 1GB of memory installed.
You will get 50-100$

Since you are on XP you have to download an older version of the Empowering Technology software. I recommend reading through http://komku.blogspot.com/2007/09/acer-empowering-technology-and-aspire.html. Download and use the empowering software provided there are your own risk! Also if you are lacking any drivers for your Aspire 4390 try http://komku.blogspot.com/2008/09/acer-aspire-4925-4925g-aspire-4930.html.KOMKU brought my laptop back to full life after uninstalling virus catching Vista. I use Windows XP now without a hitch. I wish you much luck.
I would go with the dell as it is by far a much better company
Around $200 to $400.As of 3/2013, this is a pretty good budget "Mini Acer Laptop". It is actually a chromebook. ( http://www.google.com/intl/en/chrome/devices/acer-c7-chromebook.html#ac-c7 )
If ordered online, an Acer laptop can cost between five hundred and a thousand dollars depending on the style and model of the laptop. If ordered second-hand, the product is typically less expensive.
You can check the ram of any Windows computer by holding the windows key and pressing the pause break key on the top-right of the keyboard
In general, it seems that they are. Acer was initially the manufacturer for Texas Instruments before they became a separate company. In general, they seem competetively priced and well-built. Their tech support also seems very good with reasonable wait times and very often an American-sounding agent on the other end who is usually pretty helpful.
