What definition are you using for vulgar? They might be "of or relating to the common people," but they hardly seem "morally crude" or "ostentatious" unless you think jewelery in general fits that description. I think big chunky gaudy 'bling' anklets are vulgar, but I love to wear small delicate chains and simple bangles around my ankles, I just think they look pretty and feminine.
