It depends on the model you buy. I've seen models that hold 1 TB (TB is a Terabyte, which is a 1000 gigabytes). You can easily find other models that hold about 800 GB, especially at Future Shop. Obviously, the models that hold more will cost more, which adds up to about $120.00 if on sale (I saw a 1 TB model at Future Shop that costs this on Boxing Day, meaning it would probably be like $160.00-$200.00 without a sale).

An external hard drive storage capacity is limited only by the latest technology. You can even get an external hard drive enclosure for an internal drive and connect it to your computer via USB.

I recently saw a 16TB (terabyte) external hard drive storage array on one particular online shopping website. It sells for nearly $7,000. That's probably more than you need (or want to pay).

The largest single external hard drive I've seen for sale is 2TB, although by the time you read this there will probably be larger capacity drives on the market. As I said, this is limited only by the latest technology.
