You're talking about words which mean two bytes (16 bits), right? Common computers nowadays are 32bit-based architecture, or what's the same: 2 words. That means a computer with a 1GHz clock timing will do up to 1 million operations per second.
But newer computers are 64bit-based (I think that's where your question comes from) so at first you think: the double... now what? Well, operations are defined in 32 bits, thus in the same time, your 32bit computer does ONE operation, the other 64bit computer finishes TWO. With the same clock timing (1GHz) your new computer does 2 million operations. Cool, huh?
If you, at the same time, give the computer more RAM memory and newer hard disk, your machine will go amazingly fast!
Hope you understand my reply (sometimes I get a bit technical). Tell me if I can help you somehow.
In a sewing machine it adjusts the length of the stitches
Just Like we express information in words, so do computers. A computer 'word' is a group of bits, the length of which varies from machine to machine, but is normally pre-determined for each machine. The word may be as long as 64 bits or as short as 8 bits.
variable word length computer A computer that does not have a fixed word length but operates on data of different word lengths; this may also apply to instruction sizes. The lengths of data words that can be handled are usually in units of charactersor bytes, so that the computer handles strings of characters or bytes. It is then known as a character machine or byte machine respectively. A variable word length computer is particularly important where data is itself of varying lengths (e.g. strings of characters) as well as cases where natural data lengths do not fit word (hardware-restricted) boundaries.
Host key+L Restores Virtual PC Console from a minimized state. Moves Virtual PC Console to the foreground. Host key+I Installs Virtual Machine Additions. Host key+ENTER Toggles a virtual machine between full-screen mode and window mode. Host key+DELETE Sends CTRL+ALT+DELETE to the virtual machine operating system. Host key+P Pauses or resumes the virtual machine, depending upon its current state. Host key+R Resets the virtual machine. Host key+F4 Closes the virtual machine. Host key+C Copies the selected items. Host key+V Pastes a copied item. Host key+A Selects all. Host key+E Opens the virtual machine settings. Host key+DOWN ARROW Minimizes the virtual machine. Host key+LEFT ARROW Switches to the previous virtual machine when running multiple virtual machines, unless you are using full-screen mode. Host key+RIGHT ARROW Switches to the next virtual machine when running multiple virtual machines, unless you are using full-screen mode.
The word host may be what you are looking for.
ssh command does this.ssh remote_user_name@remote_hostRemote host can be either the host name of the machine or the ip address of the machine that you want to connect to.
The base word for "hostess" is "host."
You can use the word host in a sentence like this: "The host asked the contestants if they knew where Bangkok was."

The pseudo host is an alias for the machine on which the adaptor is running. This terminology is used when discussing computer technology.
