You can find many different animals in New York City. Beavers, coyotes and bears have all been spotted around the city. Also many wild birds are found including wild turkeys. Also, in the Hudson river, you can sometimes find dolphins and otters (but only in the estuary).

Unfortunately, the city isn't a wild area, so there aren't any common wild animals. If you want to search up wild animals in the city, none of them would be very familiar, though wild cats tend to enter the cities many times, frequently... The only wild animal that is most commonly known in New York City would be the wild cats, and if you are living in an area around Virginia, I'd say sometimes, grizzly bears may strike. Near to the middle of the US, there would be mostly stray and/or wild cats, but if you are near a swamp, you might be lucky enough to find a very rare time of wild poisonous frogs! ;)
