For a desktop, well any computer you would want to look for things for it's general purpose. For a standard computer, you want at least 3gb ram at this point, 4gb or more is recommended. You would want a Intel Core 2 (this would be Core 2 Duo, or Quad), Intel i5, Intel i7, or on the AMD side, Anthlon or a quad core Phenom. You would also want a 64bit operating system rather than the former standard 32bit, that way you can use more than 3.2gb of ram in your system. Windows XP, Vista, and 7 all have 64bit versions, though I suggest going with 64bit Vista or 7. It is advised that to keep future compatibility with newer operating systems, to have a dedicated graphics card that way, you will get the most out of your ram since your gpu won't be sharing ram with the rest of your system. Hard drive size would very from person to person, though you should go with 320gb.
It is possible for a desktop computer to have a network card. The manuals that came with it should tell you. Look for terms like "Ethernet", "LAN adapter", etc. If your desktop is a Windows PC, look on the windows desktop for "My Network Places", the Control Panel or even the BIOS setup to see if there is a network card present in your desktop.
Right click the my computer icon on your desktop and look under properties, it should be listed there.
You need to know what kind of voltage all your computer parts work at. There's not really a general Watt power supply that you should look for.
Right-click you mouse on the desktop, and, depending on your OS and version of OS, look for an option for changing the appearance of your desktop. You should find a 'Browse' -button which will allow you to select the image you want.

It all depends on what you want to do with an Apple Macintosh Computer. A Mac Mini is the minimalist Macintosh. You get the computer but you must supply the monitor, keyboard and mouse. A MacBooks are laptop computers but have the power of a desktop computer. An iMac is an "all in one" computer. It is the laptop commuter designed to be a desktop computer, which allows it to have unique look. Macintosh Pro, or MacPro- a desktop computer that looks more like the traditional and has expansion slots for the professional user. Of course there are configurations also to consider but it all depends on what you intend to do with your new Macintosh.
