The game simply called "Solitaire" in North America most often refers to the card game "Klondike", which is played alone (solitaire). The game was computerized in 1984 for the Macintosh by Michael A. Casteel. It has been included in Microsoft Windows since 1990.
Games that came with Windows XP were spider solitaire, hearts, and solitaire. Other games include FreeCell, a pinball game, and minesweeper.
The name of this game is solitaire.exe. It is included in windows 7 packages. You can find it on the start menu in the Games folder - it should be under the title solitaire.
In legacy Windows operating systems such as 2000 came included with game software. These suites included Minesweeper and Solitaire.
