It can be very easy or quite complex, depending on what it is that you want to do. Adding some numbers that you entered into a spreadsheet is considered to be processing data. That is very easy to do. Excel allows you to do much more complex things than that, and they would need a lot more experience and expertise. If you have that, then even some of the more complex things are not as difficult as they would be for someone without that knowledge.

There is one major advantage that it holds, it can help you put a lot of data down into a logic way, and under headings, exactly like a database, but it's what you can do with the data that is different, for example you can link many cells together and create spreadsheets which can work out your income and outgoings, any monthly pills that are out standing and whether you are in debt (or will be after paying your bills). This is not complicated and simple to do, if you don't know how, there are always a multitude of tutorials on the internet. I do have to say one thing though, spreadsheets are not the most interesting of things, but they can help you keep on track with things.
