Any digital file which is small enough to be held on the file system and smaller than its capacity eg- 8GB drive running on fat32 file system has a maximum individual file size of 4GB. You cannot store a file larger than 4 GB on FAT32 system, so any file smaller than 4GB can be stored. Just put the file on and your computer will tell you if it is too large.

On most flash-drives, you can store almost any kind of data within the device. However, all flash-drives have only a set amount of storage space available, so you can't store large files. Currently, the largest size of solid state memory available (solid state memory is what allows flash-drives to hold files) is 32 GB, but some 64 GB have been seen. Some suggestions of what to put on a 1 or 2 GB flash-drive (the most common size drives) would be small amounts of music (MP3), MP4 video, or photos. You shouldn't however, use flash-drives as your only storage facility for an important file, as they can break very easily if dropped. If you do need to store a very important file, though, you should save it on a hard drive, flash drive, diskette (if it is small enough), and a CD, to ensure its safety.
