If the sound in iMovie isn't working, first check your project settings to ensure the audio isn't muted or set to a very low volume. Make sure your computer's audio is functioning properly and that the correct output device is selected in your system preferences. Try restarting iMovie or your computer, as this can sometimes resolve temporary glitches. If the issue persists, consider updating iMovie to the latest version or checking for any software conflicts.

Well first you pick a topic. Then you Find photos about your topic and tell the story with the photos. Next you add them to your iMovie. Ending with the sound over the iMovie.
I have that same camera and it doesnt have sound you would think it does but it doesnt. Sorry.
Imovie HD is close to imovie
The short answer is no. You cannot record video via iMovie without sound. But it is super easy to edit out the sound! 1. Open up the clip inspector by double clicking the clip you want to remove sound from. 2. Press "a" on your keyboard. This should bring you to your audio editing panel. From here you can adjust the volume with a lever! Hope this helps!
If you want sound effects, go to the toolbar on the middle right (I am talking about imovie 08,09, and 11) and click on the music icon, the same icon in itunes. You should see options for music from garageband, itunes, and one or two sound effect folders. double click those folders for a long list of sound effects you can add.
iMovie HD supports a maximum of 2 audio channels, allowing for stereo sound. This means you can use two separate audio tracks to create a richer audio experience for your video projects. Users can manipulate these channels individually for better sound mixing and effects.
iMovie doesn't support Audio Units plugins, so you'll have to export the sound of the movie using the Quicktime Export -> Sound to Wave option, and then use the Vocal Transformer in Garageband to pitch shift your voice up. Share back to iTunes, and then import it back into the movie.
