Scandisk is a Microsoft utility that checks and makes corrections on the hard disk drive. It was first available in the Windows 98 operating system.
Defragmentation utility is one of Windows utilities designed just for that.
Disk Administrator is the tool used in WindowsNT, 2000 and XP to prep and partition hard drives
In Windows 2000, the tool used to switch between a basic disk and a dynamic disk is the Disk Management utility. You can access it by right-clicking on "My Computer," selecting "Manage," and then navigating to "Disk Management." To convert a basic disk to a dynamic disk, you can right-click on the basic disk and choose the option to convert it. However, converting from dynamic back to basic requires deleting any volumes on the dynamic disk first.
In Windows 7, you can use the "Disk Management" utility to view and manage disk partitions. To access it, right-click on "Computer" and select "Manage," then choose "Disk Management" from the left panel. This tool allows you to create, delete, resize, and format partitions on your hard drives.
