Check your resistor
Ok, its probably not the resistor. These trucks have dual ignition pick-ups in the distributor.
the pick-up for the engine to run is most likely burned out, and needs to be replaced.
Its a good idea to replace both or just buy a rebuilt distributor. Be sure to check the shaft for excessive play in the shaft, some rebuilders just replace the electronics.
Fix the cause, or keep adding fluid.

There are pages and pages of things that can cause a check engine light. You need to have it checked with a scantool. Then the code can be diagnosed and repaired.
