Fortan Appearted in1957 by IBM
John Backus, who died March 17 of this year, led the team that developed Fortran at IBM in 1954.
Fortran IV was a version of the Fortran programming language developed in the 1960's. It was widely accepted as a standard version of Fortran until the development of Fortran 66 which was itself largely based on Fortran iV.
First of all it's not FORTRAM it's FORTRAN. And This Programming language was developed in year 1957 by IBM in California for scientific and engineering applications.
Fortran is not a computer, it is a language. The letters stand for formula translator. It was developed by IBM in San Jose CA in the 1950's.
FORmula TRANslator. It is a Scientific language developed by IBM.
The firs't successful programming language was Fortran desgined by John Backus in 1957.
The first FORTRAN compiler, an optimizing compiler, was delivered in April, 1957.
The first procedure-oriented programming language is considered to be Fortran (short for Formula Translation). It was developed by IBM in the 1950s for scientific and engineering computations.
FORTRAN was the first high level programing language. developed in 1954.

Fortran is a high-level programming language initially developed between 1953 and 1957 by IBM. The name derives from Formula Translation and was originally written in capitals (FORTRAN) up until the release of Fortan 90. It was developed for scientific and engineering applications and is a popular language for high-performance computing and computationally intensive applications such as weather prediction and computational physics. The world's fastest supercomputers are typically benchmarked using Fortan programs.
