The exact list is always under development and vary depending on the operating system, it can be seen on VLC's official website and it's Wikipedia page, meaning most files downloaded any where can be viewed in VLC Media Player. Most "Movie" downloads, as asked in the question is not legal to download and will therefor not be stated on wikianswers.
