Camshaft Position Sensor Circuit Intermittent cam position sensor - common failure on these cars
The camshaft position sensor is mounted on the front of the 5.9l engine. It is at the top of the timing cover, on the back of the flange.
On a 2004 Chevy Astro, the camshaft sensor is located in the front of the engine. It is on the left side of the timing cover behind the camshaft sensor.
The camshaft position sensor is located on the end of the cam. When you open the hood look at the piece that you put your oil into. Follow that all the way to the right and on the end you will see the sensor. All it is is two bolts and a plug.
To test the valve flow control sensor on a 2004 Dodge 2500 Sprinter van, first ensure the vehicle is off and disconnect the sensor's electrical connector. Use a multimeter to check the resistance across the sensor terminals; consult the service manual for the specific resistance values. If the readings are outside the specified range, the sensor may be faulty and should be replaced. Finally, reconnect the sensor and clear any diagnostic trouble codes if necessary.
