To open a window, often times just by clicking on whatever you want opened will do the trick. Still, you can also right click on whatever you want opened and you will be prompted with a box, with an option of opening being present as well.
Now that whatever you want opened is opened, let's say for example it will be a Word document. To minimize it, you will see in the top right corner an icon which looks like this " _ ". Clicking once on it will minimize your page down to the bottom of your screen. To return it, simply re-click on the link which is now currently residing on the bottom of your page and voila, its back.
To maximize a page, click on the icon right next to the minimize icon (In the top right) It looks like a square. Finally to close a window, click on the " X " icon at the top right and away it will disappear.
The collective term for minimize, maximize, and close buttons is "window control buttons" or "window management buttons." These buttons are typically found in the title bar of application windows and serve to manage the window's state on a user's desktop.
The general name for the minimize, maximize, and close buttons on the top right corner of a computer window is "window control buttons." These buttons allow users to manage the state of the application window, such as reducing it to the taskbar, enlarging it to fill the screen, or closing it entirely.
The minimize button reduces a window to an icon. Clicking the icon restores it. The maximize button increases the size of a window to fill the whole screen or (if an MDI (Multiple Document Interface) window, to fill the parent window's client area). Clicking it again restores the window. The close button closes the window and initiates the document close sequence.
Typically (at least in Windows OS), that will at least consist of the Title Bar and (in most cases) the icons to Minimize, Maximize, Restore and/or Close the window.
Title Bar
The three fast sizing buttons on the right-hand side of your desktop window are commonly referred to as the "window control buttons." These buttons typically include the minimize, maximize (or restore), and close buttons. They allow users to manage the window's size and visibility efficiently. The specific icons may vary depending on the operating system you are using.
In MS Publisher, the title bar is the top horizontal bar of the application window that displays the name of the publication you are currently working on. It also contains the minimize, maximize, and close buttons on the right side to manage the window.
The control button commonly found on most desktop windows and dialog boxes is the "Close" button, typically represented by an "X" in the upper right corner. This button allows users to close the window or dialog box. Additionally, there are often "Minimize" and "Maximize" buttons adjacent to the Close button, used to minimize the window to the taskbar or expand it to full screen, respectively.
Resize is the term your looking for i believe. Or if your referring to the box at the top of the window on the right its maximize, restore down, and minimize
it is the rectangular box which appers when we click on any computer item. it generally includes utilities buttoms.( minimize, maximize or restore and close.)
In Windows 7, the control buttons on the title bar are located on the right side. These buttons include the Minimize button (a dash), the Maximize/Restore button (a square), and the Close button (an 'X'). They allow users to manage the window's size and visibility efficiently. The title bar itself also displays the name of the application or document currently in use.
