Interfaces come in three types: Networks Peripherials People These are generally called LAN's (Local area network) Interfaces or sometimes NIC's Network "Interface" Cards. System I/O ports, like Rs-232 serial "interfaces" or USB and Firewire. people "interface" with a computer via the mouse, keyboard and the GUI or the Graphical User "interface" i.e. Windows. E
"Graphical" means pictures, so yes, most user interfaces are graphical now. When you click on an icon to open a file or program, that's a graphical interface. A text interface was the standard before graphical interfaces took the computer world by storm.
One could purchase an audio interface at a store that specializes in the sale of guitars. There are different types of audio interfaces and the price will vary on what type one decides to purchase.

The command line interface allows you to interact with a computer using text-based commands or instructions. The earliest computers did not have graphical interfaces, so this was the only way to launch programs, perform file operations, and navigate the computer.
Originally - that was the RS-232 interface. That has since been superseded by the USB format.
NIC (Network Interface Card)
Without a user interface of some sort, a user cannot interact with the computer. If you cannot interact with a computer, you cannot tell it to do something, and cannot retrieve information from it. Answer Back in the day, there was no "GUI," a graphic user interface. You had to have a lot more computer knowledge to get the information you needed--most requests were in a programming language, like Basic. With interfaces, you could quickly access functions minus the programming issues.
Early computers used an all text or "command line interface", similar to command line in windows.
