Depends on What you would like. Toshiba has good laptops but most are over $1000. Asus has cheaper laptops. It just depends on what you want.

I would personally go with Lenovo, but they are about equal. If I could get any laptop, though, it would be an Acer. :)

Yes, I have an Asus EEE pc netbook and love it, very well made. I don't own an Asus, but I've heard from a few IT professionals that Asus is a great low cost computer. However, I've heard the opposite about Acer computers.
I personally like Asus better.
