A fingerprint reader is the most common type of biometric device. It can be found on latops, PDA's and even memory sticks. Fingerprint readers are becomming very popular.
The OBD II scanner is an on-board diagnostic tool. It is a device that can read trouble codes when connected to a vehicle's computer. The OBD II scanner will only work on automobiles manufactured in 1996 and later.
A flatbed scanner converts physical documents or images into digital form. It uses a CIS (contact image sensor) or CCD (charge-coupled device) technology to capture the document or image and convert it into an electrical signal that can be processed by a computer.

The type of biometric device you are referring to is an iris scanner. It captures the unique pattern of the colored part of the eye, called the iris, to identify individuals. The infrared beam helps in distinguishing the intricate details of the iris for accurate identification.
