WhatsApp was created by Brian Acton and Jan Koum in the year 2009. Koum named the app WhatsApp to sound like "what's up". On February 24, 2009, he incorporated WhatsApp Inc. in California. Brian Acton is the founder of the Signal App as well.

The Story of WhatsApp – The Billion Dollar App 👑

WhatsApp is a messaging app for smartphones and it grew very quickly from 10 million monthly active users in October 2010 to 2 billion monthly active users in February 2020.

In October 2014, Facebook bought WhatsApp for $19 Billion. What are the key ingredients which led WhatsApp to a $19bn valuation? I can’t stress enough on the following ingredients which played an important role in WhatsApp’s success:

• catchy brand name

• right timing

• a need (huge demand)

• amazing product

• word of mouth

Why did you install WhatsApp in the first place? You installed it because your friends and family were using it. Period. No ads. No marketing gimmick. Just an amazing product solving a big problem. The rest my friend, is history.

Hope this WhatsApp Billion Dollar story inspires you! 🤩
