In the 1980s, Macintosh hardware was very expensive and Mac OS was not allowed to run on other computers, while Microsoft software was allowed to run on IBM PCs as well as IBM Clones, making more computers running Microsoft software compared to the amount of computers running Mac software, even though Mac OS was better by itself. Compatibility became an issue when software developers just began making software for the popular OS, pushing market shares away from Apple further, and Windows (in the 1990s) was also becoming a decent operating system. By 2000, software compatibility was just too small for anybody to use a Mac. However, then, Apple started making greatly improved hardware for much more reasonably prices, plus they came out with a huge improvement to their operating system, gradually drawing users. Now, the Apple market share is pretty decent, and software compatibility is no longer a problem, especially with the Mac's ability to run Windows. However, the Mac market share is still small compared to the PC market share because of history and the 1990s, but the Mac is reviving and its popularity is growing extremely rapidly. Now, about 40% of college students intend to purchase Macs. The market shares are also pretty high among scientists, graphic artists, photographers, web designers, and schools. Even the Army is pushing in Macs because of their inherent security. The market share is growing in all sectors.

Choosing between a Mac operating system and a PC is a matter of personal preference. Mac users often boast faster speeds and less chance of getting viruses. PC users prefer the lower prices and more readily available products.
NO and don't try
I'm positive they use Macs. They're much better for work. Get a Mac.
Put iTunes on the PC. Use the same iTunes account that is on the Mac.
You can use mac-compatible Tv-on-PC software. One such example is Elgato's (http://elgato.com/) EyeTV. They sell both hardware and software for watching TV on your mac.
If you MAC is old then it uses a different motherboard than a PC. These days MAC also uses intel processors so in theory you can use the same motherboard as PC but there may be problems in adding the peripherals like MAC's keyboard and mouse to the PC motherboard and vice-versa. It all depends upon what you have got.
