Truthfully computers are not very smart at all. They simply follow directions which were written by programmers.

Effectively though because hundreds of thousands or even millions of programmers have written programs and put data into computers The effect is that the computer is a compilation of the best knowledge of all of it's programmers. The computers knowledge is still limited to:

A: What humans have taught them and

B: What humans have taught them how to learn

When a computer becomes able to learn how to learn without human intervention then it will truthfully be smart.
