It's happened frequently with me too. Y'see, it's an overheating problem. If you play on a laptop, it'll happen more frequently than not if you don't have a CPU cooler or one of those fan thingys that you place on the bottom of the laptop. Try setting everything on low (If you want, player models too. It gets a little too ugly, but it's playable.) and the resolution to 800x600 pixels.
It won't fix the overheating, but you might be able to play at least 3 games before letting the computer rest.
