You probably have not installed the proper codecs. Many distributions do not bundle proprietary / patent-encumbered codecs by default. Files using free codecs like Ogg Vorbis, however, should be usable out of the box.
Try using a different program to play your music files. I'd personally recommend winamp (winamp.com). It's free and plays all types of media files.

if you have the full game and you find a no-cd crack swap it for the application in the program files then you wont need the disk so when you copy the program files to a memory stick or external hard drive it will run wherever you want to play it
The most likely problem is that your media player doesn't support 3gp format. To fix this, use a different media player temporarily, or use http://www.media-convert.com to convert it into a different format.
you should buy a cleaning cd. it can be found in almost every media store
