Never mind, well I figured it out, this was me just being really dumb. Instead of selecting to export as a JPEG I selected to export as original. well to be exact it was preselected and I just didn't notice. I went through a lot to try and fix this too...

once you're in a level that was bought at the shop by you, edit then click "modify level" then click "save level". any edits you made before your last save will be saved. which means, when you go back to the level will still be there. by an everybody edits fan named: LvNo1000
iMovie doesn't have a 'Save' function. It saves automatically when you close the program. You'll find when you re-open your project, the edits you made will be there.

To undo editing on pictures, you need to edit a photo and then click on two dots and choose to undo edits and save a copy. Please make sure not to click on Save only.
