Windows Movie Maker will not import videos saved in a format other than one of these:
.asf, .avi, dvr-ms, .m1v, .mp2, .mp2v, .mpe, .mpeg, .mpg, .mpv2, .wm, .wmv
If you can't import a saved video, it is likely because it is in a format NOT compatible with the program.
The Windows Movie Maker project file needs to be Published/Finished/Saved (which changes the video to a Standard format) before you can upload it anywhere.
Videos saved on your computer must be in one of the following formats before you can import them into Windows Movie Maker:.asf, .avi, dvr-ms, .m1v, .mp2, .mp2v, .mpe, .mpeg, .mpg, .mpv2, .wm, .wmvIf the video in not in a compatible format, you will need to convert it to one before it can be used in the program.

As long as the media is an actual file indexed somewhere on your computer, you can import it into Windows Movie Maker. However, please remember, that Windows Movie Maker needs to be able to locate the original source files used in a project until it is Published/Finished in a Standard Video format. If you are speaking about a 'link' to the movie or video in a document... No you can't import it. Again, you have to have the original source file on your computer to be able to import it into the program.

In Pivot, go to file-> save animation, then save as GIF. Type in the file name. Save it. It will have GIF options. Then on frame delay, do 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, or 12. Any number in there. Then in Shrink Frames do #2. Un-check merge and palette. Click ok (or whatever it is). Open windows movie maker and then import pictures. It will have your GIF saved where you saved it. Select your Gif, and click Import. It will import your animation. If you want to make it a wmv or video, go to file -> save movie file. Then click Next. It will do the rest. When it is done, click finish.

If you did not save/finish/publish the Windows Movie Maker project before closing the program, the videos are irretrievable. If you have a 'Saved" project, the video should be in your Collections folder - unless you moved/changed/deleted the original source files on your computer.
