It may depending on how good your computer is, if you do not meet the system requirements the game can get very choppy, this happened to me since i just bought it on steam the other day, i was only getting about 3 fps. Also make sure you have enough Hard drive space also (at least 17GB), if you fill up the rest of your hard drive with GTA IV, you may get bad results. So for best performance, run it on a more modern computer.
