I believe so. I am researching that atm. I found that if you have an older sli mobo, and you use only one pcie video card, then the mobo might just turn off the 2nd pcie slot. But say you have onboard video and you need to use the 1 pcie slot for like a controller card, or NIC. I have a server with a pcie x16 slot. I am about to put a x1 sata controller in there. So wish me luck!
The bus, for example: PCI-Express (x1, x4, x16) or PCI, or AGP. To imagine this for yourself, it's the slot in your pc, on your motherboard, with that slot, your video card will have to be compatible with. this means, you can't insert a PCI-Express Video Card into an AGP slot. :)
no. only on a pcie slot. buy a mainboard with such
You may manage to insert it into the slot, but the card will not work, and both the card and the motherboard may suffer damage.
Take a look at your system motherboard to see if it has an AGP or PCI Express card slot (it will be the topmost expansion slot on the motherboard--your monitor should be connected to the card currently sitting there). This will tell you which type of video card is available to you.
Are you sure the slot is a PCI Express slot? Check your motherboard documentation and make sure that it's a PCI Express slot. You shouldn't have to try that hard to get the card in.
To determine if your video card is compatible with your slot, first, check the type of slot on your motherboard, typically PCIe (Peripheral Component Interconnect Express) for modern cards. Then, verify the video card's connector type; it should match the motherboard slot (e.g., PCIe x16). Additionally, consult the motherboard’s specifications and the video card’s requirements to ensure compatibility in terms of size, power supply, and cooling.
yes ati radeon pci express' can go into Intel motherboards
No. A PC Card is a small card slot that is usually found on a notebook. It is really rare that it is on a desktop or tower computer. An express card is a type of a PCI card that fits in a slot in the motherboard.
