However, you never ever ever want to turn your microwave on for more than 10-20 seconds with nothing in it, not if you don't want to buy a new microwave. The radio waves generated by the magnetron will feed back into it, causing it to vibrate and greatly will reduce its lifespan. Just don't do it. Why would you want to anyway?
