It has been shown that yes, technically this does charge your phone faster, however in the end, only by several minutes for 1/2 battery power, and the time saved by charging in airplane mode for a full battery was maybe 8 minutes shorter.
I know it "seems" logical that charging in this mode will help seeing as there will not be any aps or location services running, however when you think by having the device plugged in and charging, if those items are running it can and will pull power from the electrical outlet. Makes sense when you think that when your phone (or anything for that matter) is 100% dead and you plug it in to the wall to charge, it only takes moments for you to use that item while keeping it plugged into the wall.
Side note: Wikianswers suck, anyone can post any answer they want on here, and it is nothing but ads on here anymore, and "clicking" the arrow to see more ads, I mean answers, is nothing but a waste of time.
Airplane mode cuts voice, text and data communication off, so if you're listening to music, while in Airplane mode, you're probably playing an mp3 file on that's in your phone's storage. In that case, you shouldn't get any voice, text, or data charges.
Yes. For purposes of receiving calls and messages, being in airplane mode is the same as being turned off. Airplane mode lets you do only those things that do not involve the phone connecting with the phone or Internet systems.
No you cant
No, you cannot call 911 while on airplane mode because airplane mode disables all wireless communication, including phone calls.

no, airplane mode cuts you off from service, and you need service to receive text messages.
Ok. I have the Motorola Rival, so this may not work on every Verizon Phone. Here are the steps that you have to do on a Motorola Rival to put your phone on Airplane Mode: 1. Go to Menu. 2. Go to Settings and Tools. 3. Go to Phone Settings. 4. The first setting on the list should be "Airplane Mode"
It blocks out cellular information on your phone so you may legally use it on an airplane (You are not allowed to call on an airplane.)
No. Airplane mode on the phone is to stop the phones from messing with the engines. Most wireless devices will mess with the engines.
When your phone is in airplane mode, it disables all wireless communication functions such as calls, texts, and internet access. This helps prevent interference with aircraft systems and saves battery life.
