This could be a number of things. First if it is only freezing while reading your Viso CD, then it may be a CD problem. It could also be that your CDROM is a "cheaper" grade and doesn't read certain types of CD media very well. If it will read other CD's then this is probably the issue. If your Drive responds this same way to all CD's it's very likely that it has failed. If you think this may be the problem CDRW's are very cheap now, and sometimes free if you find the right sale paper and rebates. I would pick one up and replace your current drive. This would be an easy test and if it still exhibits problems, at least you have a new CD Burner now. More input from FAQ Farmers: * CD-ROM's can't just "freeze" by themselves, BUT what could be causing your computer to have problems reading from the CD is a number of things. First, make sure that the CD you are using has valid data on it. I ran into a number of cases where I failed to make a perfect CD-ROM, and my DVD-ROM drive was the only drive that could read the CD after several attempts. Next, make sure that the CD itself is CLEAN. Use a dry cloth to buff the data side of it before placing it in the drive. Do NOT use WATER. Also, make sure that the drivers you use for the CD-ROM drive have no viruses.
