I personally think the 13" Macbook Pro without Retina display at $1199 is an excellent choice. But if you have the money, and feel it is worth it, you can opt for the Retina display for an additional $300. I would not recommend the 15" Macbook Pro as I feel it is just not worth the extra $600 or $1,000 for the retina display model. With the student discount you can get the 13" Macbook Pro for $999 which would be my choice.

Scarcity and choice is the basic economic problem. New wants and needs lead to constant scarcity of certain products or services, and this leads consumers and businesses alike to have to make choices. An example is the desire for two different services in a business when resources are limited (say, renovate or reupholster). The choice must be made as to which to do to make the most of available resources.
