You can't save anything on a CD-ROM. This is because ROM means Read Only Memory. Most songs are like this so you cannot re write on them.
You can save most types of popular picture (JPEG/GIF/PNG etc) video (AVI/MP4/MP1 etc) and music (MP3/ AAC/ WAV etc) files onto CD-Rs and CD-RWs.

Corrupt save data is most likely because the save type is wrong. Click Options->Emulator->Save Type and try each combination listed. Don't forget to reset (Control+R) after selecting a new type.

When you go to save your file, type in your desired file name, then type ".html" on the end. This tells Notepad that you want to save your document as an HTML file.
Go to the File Menu and choose a SAVE AS. In Save As Type, you will find a list of various formats, amongst them is CSV. Choose that and the file can be saved in CSV format. It would be important that the data is laid out like a table.
