I haven't found a clearcut answer yet myself. I found a picture that matched my A408 (except for color) on a apx. 1978 brochure at www.automaticwasher.org, a website and discussion forum for antique and vintage washing machines etc. Someone there would probably be able to answer your question (and mine), especially if they had the serial #.

I own one that was made in 1989 (Maytag Washer Model A112, Series 04, purchased April 1989) I also own a Maytag A112. It is Series 02, purchased in August 1986.
