I have had two attacks of diverticulitis now, very painful and treated with two antibiotics. I researched the issue of seeds, etc. and diverticulosis last year on line. There have been several massive research studies which confirm that fiber, seeds, etc. have no causal link to diverticuli, osis, or itis. I then asked both my internal medicine doc and my board certified colo rectal surgeon. Both confirmed that indeed this long taught relationship between seeds etc and diverticuli is now "an old wives' tale." Best I can determine, a high fiber diet is best for this condition, including citrucel powder (sugar free) and such things as popcorn.
