No, she was a very much beloved woman who treated others with great kindness and respect. Everyone has those who frustrate or annoy them. However, Julia Child was generally not that sort of person. I;m sure there were those who were a bit jealous of her success; but even those people could not be swayed to hate her because of her kindness and sweet disposition.

By her very personality, determination, character and values, she compelled those who met her to deeply respect and adore her. her opinions were strong, and stated with grace, patience, kindness and poise; her presence albeit potentially imposing due to her voice and size; was never perceived as such due to her incredibly warm, loving and naturally sweet disposition.

You have to understand, having petty "enemies" is a modern teaching imposed on our collective psyche by Hollywood. Most people back then and even today do not go around "having enemies." there are those we disagree with and those who treat us unkindly or unfairly. That does not make that person an "enemy" unless our minds are clouded by paranoia and resentment. And although there were people who did not treat Julia Child as kindly or fairly as they should, she was a forgiving, understanding and caring person. She also sought to do her best at what she loved, and she loved learning, researching and teaching others.

To label someone as an enemy you must allow them to have the power to defeat you. That was not the mindset of this great woman. She chose her own fate and surrounded herself with people who generally loved her with the same devotion that she loved them. There is no space for enemies in such a life. I cannot imagine she would ever have been so negative in her thinking as to label anyone her "enemy" anyway.
