Weither an onion scientifically can keep away germs, I do not know. From my experience...lets just say I have an onion on my desk. A friend of mine told me of this old wives tale. I had been getting sick and just feeling run down. I thought, what the heck. Wasn't for a while that i noticed but I hadn't really been horribly sick after placing the onion on my desk. I put it there just incase clients came in with a cold :) Anyway, after a long while the onion was looking poorly so I threw it away. It was atleast 3 weeks it was gone but in that time frame I had several sore throats, body aches and coughing. I just kinda laughed and brought another onion from home. So far so good. Now like I said, I don't know of the logic or scientific part of this but seriously for me, it's not hurting anything hiding behind my kleenex on my desk so why not!
No. Germs are everywhere, therefore it is impossible to keep food away from germs. No matter where you put your food, there will be germs.
to keep the germs away the hair traps the germs
The reason why an onion was placed in a mummies hand was for its strong smell to keep animals away.
Moisture turns it into a rock. Put some rice in it. After, throw it away
Several reasons: 1) it was to keep scarab beetles from infesting the mummy and 2) all due to it's odor, an onion was thought to keep away evil entities (like garlic to vampires). ----------------- LOL I almost believed u but u had to put the vampire...
To keep a cut onion fresh, store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator. This will help prevent the onion from absorbing other odors and keep it from drying out.
You can safely keep an onion in the fridge for up to two weeks.
