It depends on what you want to sell.

If you want to sell professional products, you should have the same kind of education as the people you're selling them to. Pharmaceutical salesmen should have at least a rudimentary medical background--if the drug you're pushing treats coronary thrombosis, you should at least know what that is. The people you're selling the stuff to do.

If you're selling equipment to the trades, you should have worked in that trade for a while. I am a printer, and my sales rep was a printer for twenty years.

But if you want to work in retail, you should see a doctor and get your brain removed. You'll feel better about yourself. Trust me on this.
