Black licorice is made by combining ingredients such as licorice root extract, sugar, flour, and flavorings. The key steps in the production process include mixing the ingredients, cooking the mixture to a specific temperature, shaping the licorice into ropes or pieces, and allowing it to cool and harden before packaging.
The ingredients in licorice juice are water, black licorice puree, sugar, citric acid, ascorbic acid, and artificial black licorice flavor.
Caffeine is not a component of licorice root or licorice candy.
theres red and black licorice when people refer to the black kind they just say licorice because black is the original kind. when people refer to red licorice they say flat out red licorice.
Define harmful, most candy companies use natural ingredients to sweeten their black licorice. Red Vines Black Licorice Twist for example uses Molasses, Corn Syrup, Licorice Extract, and Anise Flavor their black licorice. These are natural ingredients and only harmful in excess and that is true of most candies.
