To cook rice in a steamer, rinse the rice, add water, and place it in the steamer basket. Steam the rice until it is cooked through and fluffy.
A rice steamer is designed specifically for cooking rice by steaming, whereas a vegetable steamer is designed to steam a variety of vegetables to retain their nutrients and texture. While both steamers use steam to cook food, the design and functionality cater to the specific needs of either rice or vegetables.
You use a rice steamer by filling it with the required amounts of water and rice and then turning it 'on' or to a timer set.
To steam rice effectively in a steamer, rinse the rice thoroughly, add the correct amount of water, place it in the steamer basket, and steam for the recommended time until the rice is tender and fluffy. Avoid opening the steamer during cooking to ensure even steaming.
To cook sticky rice perfectly, rinse the rice until the water runs clear, then soak it for at least 30 minutes. Use a steamer or rice cooker to cook the rice, adding the right amount of water. Once cooked, let it rest for 10 minutes before fluffing with a fork. This will result in sticky rice with the perfect texture and consistency.

Long-grain white rice is rinsed before cooking to remove excess starch. Removing the starch makes the rice cook more evenly and it makes the cooked rice less sticky. In the U.S., if you rinse the rice, you are rinsing away vitamins, minerals, and iron. Rice is fortified with vitamins, minerals and iron that is applied on the rice. to make minute rice into fried rice, all you have to do is cook it and then fry it afterwards in a pan with a little soy sauce and butter. as for the sticky rice, this is also as simple. believe it or not, minute rice is only not sticky because of one thing, and that is the fact that they remove the starches from the rice. it is also precooked, so you are truly only heating it up. to make minute rice sticky rice, put the starch back in the rice. by adding corn starch to your minute rice while it cooks, you can make it sticky. Don't add too much, or it will be too thick to eat easily, but not enough, and it wont stick. I'm not sure about the measurements, but you can experiment on your own. It will work great!
The older Rival rice cooker steamer should have a base, a lid, steamer basket, and rice bowl. To cook rice, fill center basin of base with water. Place the rice bowl on basin. Add rice and water as follows. For white rice add water in a 1:1 ratio to rice plus 1/2 cup. For brown rice add water in a 1:1 ratio to rice plus 3/4 cup. Examples: 1 cup white rice, 1-1/2 cup water; 2 cups brown rice, 2-3/4 cups water. Put lid on and plug in and in about 50 minutes you should have delicious rice. I'm not sure how to use the steamer basket. The steamer basket is really easy. Just add water to the basin, place steamer rack on top add your favorite vegetables to the basket, put the lid and plug it in. I have done cauliflower, broccoli, carrots (they stained the basket, but bleach took out the stains), green beans, and everything comes out perfectly cooked in about 20 to 30 minutes. Some vegetables take a little longer, for example carrots and green beans.
They get the rice from a local market and then either put it in a steamer of in pot filled with water!
