Most things cook just fine at 350 degrees F, the safe temperature. However, if the recipe is harder to heat inside and out, like a casserole or a pie, then the temperature is pushed up to 375 or higher. You can put something in at 350 even though it says higher, but you will need to cook it for longer than the recipe says.

You can use it in other dish. Like when my mom cooks something and there is extra oil on top of the food, she takes the extra out, and put in a cup and keeps it in the refrigerator, so when she cooks something else, then she can put that extra oil in there.
