As I am a fan of Koflach boots I recently acquired a pair with liners off Ebay. The inner liner being in decent condition, needed a clean as the previous owner was clearly not one for looking after his kit!. Looking at the materials involved in the construction of the inner boot, (yes inclusive of its leather elements) I elected to place the liner in a pillow case and popped them in my washing machine!. A cold wash using a non bio washing powder that works on a cold wash (In the UK I used Persil). Then air dry.
The result was really quite good. I dont suspect for one moment Koflach intended their boot liners to last for any reasonable period of time., however a cold machine wash works well, un -compresses the fibres in the liners, which logically lends itself to better heat management. I also cleans up the plastic elements and does the leather no apparent harm at all.
