You may also not know if you have a canker sore under the expander but to find out see if any of the following conditions apply to you:Have had a feeling that there is a miniature ball stuck under your expander.Experience pain under your expander when swallowing.Or have had a bunch of sugar centered candy stuck up in your expander and now your mouth hurtsif any of these conditions apply to you call your orthodontist right away for it may be serious.
you can eat any thing i swear i have my expander now it hurts when they tighten it but it goes away in a few sec. just dont eat smthn realy hard or chewy also do not eat gummi bears its my first day with my expander and i eat one accidentally forgetting about my expander i hate it its really hard to swallow. good luck expander ers.

Well, it is very difficult, but here are some helpfull tips, (You get used to it after a while) Cut up your food into smaller pieces then you normally would, so you dont have to chew as much. When you put the food inside your mouth, chew with only one side, and one side only, because if you keep going bakc and forth with the chewing on differant sides, it's easier for the food get stuck in your expander. When the food is all chewed up, kinda push it back to the back of your mouth then swallow right away, yes it is going to be hard, but again, you will get used to it.
