I've found that Crab Grass is best controlled by using one of two products. "Advanced Lawn Care" (made by Bayer) or "Weed N Hoe" made by Monterey Chemical Company. Both are equally good. You should buy the concentrate and mix according to directions for your geopgraphical area. These chemicals are "selective," meaning you can spray all over your lawn. It will not harm your grass. It only kills the weeds. I've also found that if the weeds are not dying as soon as they are supposed to, I reapply the chemical about a month later but mix it a little heavier than the instructions call for. I have an absolutely weed-free lawn. You should also use a 16-16-16 feed on your lawn. Do this every third week. It will keep it healthy and green. It is inexpensive. Try your local OSH. GOOD LUCK!!

How do you kill crabgrass in St Augustine?

In St. Augustine grass it is most important to apply a crabgrass preventer and fertilizer in early Spring. Far easier to prevent than to kill later as almost anything that kills crabgrass can kill St. Augustine grass. Our Ace Hardware sells a crabgrass preventer in the Spring. They now have a product called Garden Weasel Crabgrass killer. A container of this powder will do up to 200 sq. ft. Must be applied to wet leaves on the crabgrass. I found I did a second application on some "tough guys" but it worked fine.

Does scotts turf-guard fertilizer with crabgrass killer kill Bermuda grass?

There is nothing in Scotts Turf Builder with Halts Crabgrass Preventer that will harm Bermuda Grass. You will want to wait to apply the product though until the lawn is out of winter dormancy. If you apply the Scotts Turf Builder with Halts Crabgrass Preventer before the lawn is out of winter dormancy then it could cause some damage to the grass. If your lawn is still dormant, but you want to apply crabgrass preventer now, Scotts does sell Halts without the fertilizer in it.
