I bake mine covered in a deep casserole at 350 for 45 minutes, in a tomato sauce (can of drained diced tomatoes, several cloves of minced garlic, 1 Tbsp dried parsley). Use whatever not thicksauce you want, but make sure it does not "reduce" too much, add liquid as necessary checking at half-way point during the baking.

Use the sauce to serve the calamari on pasta, pouring sauce over the entire dish once plated.
