For rotini it could be 5 or 6 cups. for angel hair pasta, usually packaged in cakes, it can be almost 12 cups. The best thing to do is weigh, or purchase the weight you need of any particular dry pasta.
BTW 1 lb of homemade fresh pasta dough is about 3 1/2 cups, before shaping it and cooking it.

Going up we have rigate, penne and radiatori , these are denser and in more solid shapes. These run about 130 - 160 grams per cup. Finally, the heavy varieties like spaghettini and linguini - if you bunch these together ans stand upright in a cup the will be 220 -235 grams per cup.
