Volume is measured in several different units depending on the amount of substance being measured.

The standard SI unit of volume is the cubic metre. Other units derive from this such as the litre, cubic centimetre, millilitre etc

Most countries use these metric units and all scientists and engineers do so.

The are other forms of measurement specific to certain disciplines, cooking for instance has its own.

The US is the only large country that still uses Imperial measurement commonly.
