That depends entirely on where you are. They are called biltong, bakkwa, bindenfliesch, bogoo, came del sol, bresaola, cecina, charqui, jerky, kuivaliha, pastirma, pemmican or kawaab. -Quite possibly many other names. I had biltong as a kid and later found it very similar to pastrima from Turkey and came del sol from Brazil.
