Sarmale is stuffed cabbage rolls. It's made by taking pickled cabbage leaves, stuffing meat (pork, lamb, veal), rice and onions, etc. (seasoned too), and rolling them up, then cooking it. Mamaliga is a cornmeal mush. It can be thinner like porridge (like Italian polenta), or thick like cornbread (but not sweet). The two are often served together in Romanian cuisine, and is very good (my favorite!).
